Kiss

Prince Cover by: Eva Nomikou

“Redah recorded a stunning ballad version of this classic Prince song, enlisting the talented Eva Nomikou to play piano and lend her vocals to this captivating rendition. Together, Eva and Redah infused the timeless track with a fresh passion, accompanied solely by piano, live cello and string pads.

The video, shot and edited by Bernard K Garceau III, was filmed in a stunning all-white studio loft in downtown Los Angeles, showcasing Eva as she plays a white piano.” - Robert Etoll

"Kiss" (Prince) Cover for TV & Film | Robert Etoll Productions

Prince’s original “Kiss” is known for its iconic mid-tempo funk groove. In this reimagining, it becomes an intimate female vocal ballad. Eva Nomikou brings a fresh perspective to the song, transforming this male-sung classic into a delicate and emotionally resonant interpretation. While the original stood out for its stripped down funk minimalism, our version captures that same spirit through a tender piano base, layered with live cello and lush string textures - or enjoyed in its purest form with just piano. The result is a heartfelt ballad, perfect for cinematic moments, romantic scenes, and modern sync licensing opportunities across the board.

The Story Behind  Prince’s “Kiss”

Prince Rogers Nelson (1958–2016), the Minneapolis-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, was one of the most creative innovators and performers in popular music. Blending rock, pop, R&B, funk, and new wave, he crafted a sound that resisted categorization, while being simultaneously elegant in its musical presentation and emotional depth, making his work a rich canvas for reinterpretation.

“Kiss,” written in 1986 for the album Parade, began as a bare-bones demo with a portable drum machine, a handful of guitar chords, and Prince’s signature falsetto vocal. While preserving that minimal essence in the final recording, Prince transformed it into a mesmerizing minimalist groove, that has inspired countless reinterpretations while retaining its timeless appeal.
